She’s a rainstorm in high summer,

all thunder and steam.

Loose? No—she’s a wildfire.


She’s been to every part of this town

and left bits of herself in alleys,

park benches, cab backseats—

nothing permanent, always free.


Her skirt’s high, but her chin’s higher,

and she’ll kiss your smirk right off

without even touching your lips.


You can’t buy her,

but you’ll try,

and it’ll cost you more than change.
